WHO WE ARE
Poynette Panther Youth Wrestling Club is open to both boys and girls in the Poynette area and designed to introduce children in grades pre-k through 8th grade to Traditional Folkstyle Wrestling. We also provide Greco and Freestyle instruction for middle and high schoolers interested in learning additional forms of competitive wrestling. Our club is a non-profit organization, led by passionate volunteers, and experienced coaches.
PRACTICE LIKE A CHAMPION. ACT LIKE A CHAMPION.
Our club works to foster a commitment to wrestling by emphasizing skill building, physical conditioning, and goal setting through sportsmanship, teamwork and accountability. Wrestling's rich tradition of individual competition and focus on technical complexity set it apart from other scholastic sports. As a wrestler, you compete individually, but it's your team and the community around you that help you grow. We believe wrestling is more than just a sport: it's a crucible for developing mental and physical fortitude, discipline and resilience with an unparalleled fanbase.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Competition in youth wrestling is based on the wrestler’s age, weight, skill level, and years of experience. Matches are contested over three 60-second periods where wrestlers aim to control their opponent's body to achieve control on the mat. Weekly practices run November through March and there are several optional tournaments wrestlers can attend during the season.
